Kenya Safaris

Kenya your way

Open grasslands dotted with wildebeest and antelope, acacia trees providing shady retreats for leopard, and vast salt lakes speckled pink by wading flamingos: Kenya is everything you’d imagine a safari destination to be. Our specialists have explored each of the country’s parks and reserves, and they can use their first-hand knowledge to help plan your ideal trip.

The drama of the Great Migration unfolds each year in the Masai Mara, where spotting members of the Big Five becomes second nature. Away from the well-trodden safari tracks is the remote Laikipia Plateau, where endangered species such as Grévy’s zebra and wild dog roam, and the sun-baked Samburu National Reserve, where elephant cool off in the Ewaso Ng’iro River. A holiday to Kenya also presents the opportunity to learn about local Maasai culture and spend time relaxing on the palm-fringed, white-sand beaches of the country’s long stretch of coastline.

Kenya Safari Highlights

The Great Migration

More than a million blue wildebeest, alongside 200,000 zebras and a diverse array of other antelope, undertake a yearly circular migration through the Masai Mara and Serengeti in search of suitable grazing areas.

Hot Air Balloon

Guests are taken from camp to the hot air ballooning starting point which is behind Little Governors' Camp. You will be able to see the balloons being inflated whilst enjoying a hot drink and a biscuit.

Dhow & Dolphin Cruising

It is possible to take a leisurely sunset cruise aboard a traditional dhow on the tranquil waters of Mida Creek, a large tidal estuary a few miles away from Watamu village.

Big 5 Safari

Early hunters referred to them as the most perilous species to encounter, and today, the iconic Big 5 continue to captivate those on photographic safaris. The majestic lion, elusive leopard, intelligent elephant, temperamental Cape buffalo, and ancient rhinoceros are among the most coveted species found in the African savanna

Birding

The diverse ecosystems, fluctuating climate, and significant areas of preserved wilderness in Kenya support a remarkable biodiversity, housing over 1,100 species, which includes numerous endemic species and a wide range of migratory birds that visit annually.

Mount Kenya is the second highest peak in Africa and is an ancient extinct volcano. There are 12 remnant glaciers on the mountain, all receding rapidly, and four secondary peaks that sit at the head of the U-shaped glacial valleys.
